Welcome to the English corner of our website !

“La Fromagerie de Blanzay” is an organic farm located in the southern part of the french 86 department, La Vienne, halfway between Couhé and Civray and at 6 kms of the Vallée des Singes (Monkey Valley).

We make cheeses from our own cows : milk-blue cheese, hard cheese and soft cheese.

Our Normandy cows, called Ursula, Djerba, Ryta, etc. mainly graze outdoors. During the winter, they will be fed hay, beetroots and cereals, all produced by us on the farm in Blanzay.

The cows are milked twice a day and all this milk is transformed into cheese at the dairy, situated next to the farm. The cheese is ripened in our “Cave d’affinage”, on wooden planks made by our helpful English neighbour Tim. Some types of cheese will be ripe after one month, others will stay longer, up to 18 months.

Where to find our cheeses ?

You are welcome to discover our cheeses every Saturday morning from 10 to 12 AM at the farm in Villaret, Blanzay. You’ll also find us on the Marché Notre-Dame in Poitiers on Saturday mornings, or on the market in Civray on Friday mornings in June, July and August.
